Happy and healthy healing tips for your new piercing?✨ Here you will find some aftercare do's & dont's to help you on your journey🌈 *Fyi- We are also human! Snagging or rolling onto your other side during sleep sometimes happens!🙋♀️So please don't be scared to let us know if you've accidentally slept or snagged on your piercing and are experiencing some issues... We can advise you on calming it down or some techniques for moving forward!🖤
DO'S:
•Keep your piercing clean. Shower daily and rinse off any dried matter. We also stock sterile saline wound wash spray NeilMed in our studio - we recommend this for cleaning too!
•Drying your piercing. Our top tip is to use a hairdryer on a cool setting to fully dry piercings after showering and cleaning. Eliminating moisture on your piercing is very important.
•Keep your pillowcases and clothing clean.
•Downsize your piercing. This is also a super important part of your healing journey. We will let you know if downsizing is applicable and ask you to return between 2-6 weeks.
DONT'S:
•Don't sleep on your piercing. This causes pressure and irritation, leading to hypertrophic scarring (irritation bumps/bubbles) and can also lead to migration. For ear piercings, you can use a travel pillow to suspend your ear 👍👂
•Don't touch, twist or pick your new piercing. Like at all. Just don't 😉
•Don't use any creams, lotions, ointments, tea-tree oils, alcohols or homemade salt washes on your new piercings.
•Don't go in swimming pools, jacuzzis, hot tubs, beaches or baths for AT LEAST the first month of you new piercing. Also avoiding suncreams, aftersuns or makeup being applied directly or close to your piercing. If at all possible, wait until fully healed before you do any of these things.
If you have any questions or concerns, drop us an email and we can help you out as much as possible!🖤
